how to force opening a hyperlink in a new window regardless of the options firfox

hi

i need to know how to force opening a hyper link in a new window because when i use window.open() in internet explorer the hyper link gets opened in a new window but in Firefox the hyper link opens in a new tab because it had been configured to open all new windows in new tab but i want to force the hyper link to open in a no matter in what way Firefox has been configured.
