setInterval with DOM

Hi:
When I use the following code:

[HTML]<html>
<head>
<title>
This is a test.
</title>
<script>
var i = 0;
function setTimer(){
setInterval('testInterval();',10);
}

function testInterval(){
i++;
document.getElementById('test').innerHTML = "The number is :"+i;
}
</script>
</head>
<body onload="setTimer();">
<h2>When you see the number changing,you'd better see this page take how many memorys:</h2>
<br/>
<div id=test></div>
</body>
</html>
[/HTML]
I found that the memory rapidly rises.I don't know why.Can you give me some advise? I don't know whether when we use the function setInterval ,we'd better not operate dom or minimize to operate dom.I wait on line!

Welcome to TSDN!

Your interval is too low. 10 for the second argument to setInterval means 10 milliseconds which is a 100th of a second! Increase that to 1000 for one second updates. See link.
