Regular Expression failes on some versions of Safari

Javascript pattern match validators on Safari Browser v 1.3.2 & 2.0.4 fails ...... if there are some unicode charater but if we are running the same script on later version it works fine why ?

/^([-A-Za-z0-9 '.\u00c0-\u00ff]+)$/

This may be a bug (I'm not too familiar with Safari). Check the documentation for unicode character support in regular expressions.
