IE Bug with getting client width

In my Java script i write this code

    function correctTable() {
        var tbWidth = document.getElementById("dv1").clientWidth;
                alert(document.getElementById("dv1").clientWidth);
                alert(tbWidth);
                alert(document.getElementById("dv1").offsetWidth);
        document.getElementById("tb1").width = tbWidth;
    }
 

dv1 is a div, tb1 is a table.
And last two alerts are same. It means that IE assigned OffsetWidth instead of client to my variable/ How can this bug can be cured?

There is no bug. Are you familiar with the difference between clientWidth and offsetWidth? If both alerts are the same, then you haven't created the element in a way where there would be a difference.

Yes, I know the difference and in my situation they ARE different because div has a scrollbar. The same alerts were tbWidth and div.offsetWidth, but ClientWidth alert was different. Solved it by assigning twice.
