Dynamically Expanding Images in JavaScript

Hello.

I am currently making a PHP online game called Xantium Academy. It can be found at http://xantium.co.nr and you click on the image to log in.

Anyway, i dont know much about CSS and have had to make the layout with tables. The problem is, everytime my table gets too much content in it, the Navigation bar moves down, as does everything else in the cell. This is very annoying, so i put a black image underneath to stop it from falling down.

I need someway to extend the height of that image when the content of my page goes over the safe amount. I think javascript can do it, but i cant seem to find anything useful on google. Please can someone help???

You can find the HTML and javascript code by viewing source on http://xantium.co.nr/academy_lounge.php . You can login with username = test and password = test.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and, if you can, please help me!

Why don't you try to learn a bit of CSS? Tables were never meant for layouts, but for a while we didn't have a choice. Now that we do, tables are strictly for the display of data, not layouts.

CSS isn't hard to learn... It's the tricks of the trade that take time. Using CSS will likely stop you from needing to create ugly hacks like the one you have now.
