Storing file path in browse textfield

P: 8

I was wondering can anyone help me i cant find what I need on the net. Im using <input type="file" name="attachfile" size="32"> HTML
to browse for a local file but instead of uploading the file I want to save the path. i.e. "This file can be found at this location: ...."
The textbox and button cant seem to be edited individually. Can it be done using JS? Any help would be great.
