Welcome to TSDN!

You asked two questions. The first is not possible unless you try to give full access to your browser/system via ActiveX.

The 2nd question is more practical. Just have a timeout feature which you can code on the server side. If the user has been inactive for more than, say, 20 minutes, they are automatically logged out.
