i am trying to pass a function to the sort method of array to sort in the following order: i want a,x,y,z to come before the rest and the rest follow the usual alphabetical order. i tried to the the following:

function myComp( a,b ){
var first = a
var second = b
if( first.toString() > second.toString() return -1
if( first.toString() < second.toString() return 1
return 0
}
trees = ["bg","td","ac","xa", "yt", "zu", "a", "x"]
document.write(trees.sort(myComp)
but this doesn't seem to work?
any help?
