help needed - form.submit and IE error handler

The code is very simple like

try{
aform.submit();
}
catch(e){
alert("error");
}

The application running, then the server is shut down, assumming user doesn't know and try to post a form. The above code doesn't catch any error at all. I'd expect IE gives an error, but it seems go through successfully. Do you have any idea why???

Thanks,

Welcome to TSDN.

The code is client-side, so it won't capture any server-side errors. It will submit the form.

Is there a way to capture & display the error? Thanks.

You could perhaps look into ajax to see if the page exists. See the Ajax links in the Offsite Links thread (top of forum).
