Now that only excepts are posted, "this" does not apply. Subject should
become
How do I direct someone to the c.l.j FAQ?
>This document is posted to clj very frequently.
Not this document; and it is not.

A full URL, <http://www.jibbering.com/faq/index.html>, as in #FAQ1, is
preferable.

Only
How do I direct someone to the c.l.j FAQ?

By citing <http://www.jibbering.com/faq/index.html>.
is needed; the rest is waffle.

the rest is waffle.
Waffle: A light batter cake cooked in a waffle iron, between two hot
plates, patterned to give a distinctive honeycomb shape.

If you can tell me how to upload a waffle to Jim's server then I will be
glad to entertain your thoughts. Otherwise, you should be careful about
your choice of words. Remember, there are people who read this group
that read/write/use a different dialect than you do and you need to make
sure that what you write is readily comprehensible by anybody. You
should also try to remember that people also write in other dialects
other than the one you seem to be infatuated with thinking is the
"supreme" dialect and all others are ignorant. And most of the time, you
fail to do that in your endeavor to look smart.

John quite possibly is referring to an early and faulty translation of the
Dutch saying: "Houd je waffel!"

I don't speak Dutch and won't try to understand what the saying means,
but it only goes to prove my point.

Try using a reputable dictionary of the English language. When using a
dictionary, it is always wise to choose one appropriate to the language
of the author - if the OED is too heavy for you, try Chambers.

Etymologically, Waffle the cake is derived from the Dutch 'wafel', a
wafer. But the relevant waffle comes from the Scots word 'waff', which
derives from 'wave', Old English 'waftan', cf. Old Norse 'vafra', to
waver. So the ultimate root may well be common.

Not completely correct, John.

Pesach starts at the start of 15 Nisan, this year, being A.M. 5767, that is
Monday 2007-4-2 around local dusk, the time value depending on the local
reference location of the local Chief Rabbinate, the local time zone the
local summertime setting.

For the Netherlands that is exactly 20:00 hours CEST.
This same first day of Pesach ends 2007-4-3 20:02.

This Monday evening, called Erev Pesach, is part of the night that is
different from all the other nights. If you are a youngest child attending
a Pesach Seder you would have to ask why.

Try using a reputable dictionary of the English language.
If you knew what dictionary I was using then your claim might have some
merit. As it is, it has none. Try understanding the whole of what I
write (haven't you said that before?) before you reply to it.
When using a dictionary, it is always wise to choose one appropriate
to the language of the author - if the OED is too heavy for you, try
Chambers.
When writing to an audience, it behooves the author to write in a manner
that is likely to be understood by the widest margin of its *readers*.
After all, the written word is interpreted by the *reader* to what it
means to the *reader*, not the *author*. And you obviously fail to
understand that. I would think that someone with the Education that you
claim to have would understand that but obviously you don't.

Please explain 'behooves' for us widely marginated foreign readers.
Should John have behaved, be beheaded, or do his bees have hooves?

Well, I've long known the substance of what you say; but it seems to be
commonly held that, on the Jewish calendar, Tuesday (for example)
actually begins on what the gentiles consider to be early Monday
evening.
>This Monday evening, called Erev Pesach, is part of the night that is

No, that's Tuesday evening, followed by Tuesday night, Tuesday morning,
and Tuesday afternoon!

I was sleepy last night, it seems,
but it was certainly different from all the other.

Thinking it over, and trying to understand wht you mean,

"Tuesday evening, followed by Tuesday night, Tuesday
morning, and Tuesday afternoon",

you could call it "Tuesday eve", not "Tuesday evening"
