Please help Reading a file using javascript from server

Hi ,
I need to read a file(xml file) froma location in server by my client side HTML+Javascript code ,I did this using JSP,but now my requirement has been changed and I donot want any server side involve ment in this.

Application will be like this
1.HTML/JSP page on the time of loading will be provided with a XML files name with proper address which is suppose to be with server.
2.this HTML/JSP page then should able to read that file(on BODY's on load event ) and display the data from the XML file as per some criteria.

Though I did this using servlet and jsp now as per the new requirement it has to be done using javascript/ajax only involving client side operation.
Please help me to find a way.

Thanks in advance
Raj
