how to stop the script engine?

Hi,
I would like to know how to stop the jscript engine from executing further. For example, when you say window.confirm or window.prompt, the jscript engine stops till the dialog returns some value. I would like to get the same kind of functionality in my page, but without using prompt(), confirm(), showModalDialog() or showModelessDialog(). Please help me.

Welcome to The Scripts.

Why would you want to do that? It would only confuse the user since nothing is happening and the browser is stuck. In any case, I don't think it is possible (I may be wrong especially if you're taking about JScript which is not Javascript) unless you fake the effect by setting a loop which does something.
