Robust AJAX library for Real Time data acquisition

Hi,

I'm a software engineer working in the offshore industry, I've been coding in various languages professionally since 1987.

In my present employment I am working with control systems in the oil and gas industry. Typically control systems use process control or scada systems to display and log data from various control environments.

I am designing an Intranet using AJAX to acquire data from remote servers and present dynamic updates to the user. So far I have written a core AJAX library that uses message queue's to send data to one or more remote servers, the local code can send any number of requests to a server, the requests are queued locally and sent in an orderly function, when a request is sent to a remote server a timeout timer is started, the next message is not sent until either a receipt is received from the server or the timeout timer expires. Status information is avaialble for each queue, tx, rx, timeout and error counters.

I have written a simple control to display a data point in a variety of formats and update all data points in a page at regular intervals. Context menus appear on right click to change formatting properties of the control.

I have recently coded floating windows that can be dragged around the page, these floating windows are not seperate windows, they are div tags. I used the drag and drop library available from:

http://www.walterzorn.com/dragdrop/dragdrop_e.htm

I am not writing a real time trending module which will be displayed in a floating window using the javascript vector graphics library available from:

http://www.walterzorn.com/jsgraphics/jsgraphics_e.htm

So far the project is coming along very well and I would like to help or assist anyone who is interested in learning more....

Welcome to thescripts Simon and Merry Christmas.

I'm sure they would be only too delighted for your assistance in the Javascript/Ajax forum.

Hi Simon,
I am planning to do something similar and doing a short research at the moment. Do you have any samples of your work? It sounds very interesting for me
