emailing a variable

I have a js script which takes a number from the input box of an html form,
stores it as a variable, compares it to a given set of numbers and then
confirms that it is agrees or not as the case may be. So far so good & this
works OK I now want to be able to send that inputted number as an email
without the visitor being aware of it. Is there a a way of doing this
in Javascript? Apparantly it cannot be done in HTML.

Hope tis understandable. Being fairly new to JS, I would appreciate any
advice.

Thanks in advance,

Geoff.

This question is asked so frequently, it ought to be in the JS FAQ.

Some previous answers:

1. You can't send email reliably from the client (which is what I think
you want to do, being, in your own words, new to JavaScript). To send
email reliably, use a server-side script, or a free service provider.

2. If you want to send email, from a website, and it be reliable, use a
form, submit the data to the server, and then send it from the server.

Thanks for the response. I guess the simplest answer is to add the numbers
to a database & let the site owner access the database periodically.

Thanks,

Geoff.

Remember that, once the data are on the server, lots of things can be
done with them, sending them in an email. Your server is your friend.
Your server is much more powerful than client-side JS.
