Open popup onbeforeUnload()

I know this is a frequent problem, so I apologize if this has been posted before. I have been looking online for hours to find a solution for this.

I have a main order form and an "Are you Sure" order form that needs to pop up when the user clicks the X on the main form.

I previously had my function for the popup onUnload of the body of my main form. Problem: I have yet another link on my main order form to send International subscribers to an order form with different prices. With the function to open the popup onUnload, this event fires when my International people click on that link.

I know I probably need to use onbeforeUnload to fire off the popup order form, but can only get this to work and generate an alert. I need it to open a new window for my "Are you Sure" order page.

I believe you can just specify a function that will check for a variable to be true. just have the link to the international page set the variable = false. then make the popup only fire if it is true. ;)
