JavaScript Date comparision

Hi all,

I was trying to compare a date with todays date like this

var date1 = getDateObject(document.groupForm.endDate.value);
var today = new Date();
today.setHours(0,0,0);

if(date1 < today)
alert("date1 is less than today);
if(date1 >= today)
alert("date1 is greater than or equal to today);

when i enter tommorow's date second alert is displaying.
when i enter yesterdays date first alert was displaying.
But when i enter todays date second alert message was not displaying.

Can any one tell whats wrong with the code or give any suggestion how to achieve this.

not sure... but to debug i would try doing an alert to show the values it is comparing:

alert("today = " + today + " and date1 = " + date1);

not really a solution, but might point you in the right direction...?
