detect if user on a cell phone??

P: n/a
hi,

is it possible to detect if a user is on a cellphone? I think this is
important because cell-phone browsers don't support CSS (will they ever??)

thank you..

Certainly not reliably.

They don't? Sure about that? (I suspect CSS support is rather better then
JavaScript support)

Why would it matter anyway? If a client doesn't support CSS, then it gets
the content styled using its default stylesheet. There shouldn't be
anything vital in the presentation layer in the first place.

In mine it is anyway. It has about half CSS support and zero JS support.
So, any attempt at using JS to determine my cell phone wouldn't work
even if you could try it.
