altering display of textarea

hi all is possible to change the look of textareas in firefox and it so
that they DONT display the vertical scroll bar when there is more
content in them than currently visible in the visible amount of rows.

Having re-read that i realise it makes no sense. What im trying to say
is can you switch off the vertical scroll bar aspect of the design of
textareas in firefox and some other browsers?
