Get next element given a certain element?

Is it possible to get the next element appearing on the page given a
certain element?

ie, say there are many DIV tags that appear right after each other on
the page, and you pass the one of these DIV tags as an argument to a
function. Could the function get a handle to the DIV tag appearing
right after the given one?
