blank space appears in netscape

can anyone tell me why an additional blankspace appears for a dropdown
menu when using netscape6.1?this works fine for IE

Not without seeing your code.

(Although it is worth pointing out that Netscape 6.1 is ancient and buggy,
that Firefox is generally considered to be its successor, and a decent test
suite should include Opera and Firefox (and Safari/Konqueror if you have
access to OSs that they run on)).
