resizable textarea usiong DHTML

I cannot seem to set a size for a text area relative to total screen
width in CSS or HTML or Javascript? When I use CSS or a percent value
in the cols attribute, they size the textarea as a percentage of
another text area on the screen.

thanks,

Don

You may be able to use JavaScript to set and modify the values once you
know what to do. You need to talk to those who specialise in CSS and
HTML first:

No, you can not.

Display resolution != desktop size != browser
window size != viewport size. [psf 3.7]

So my supervisor is like, post the question to the JavaScript group,
this has dhtml implications, and I told him, no, I don't want to go
there, they're really immature and pedantic about technical issues, and
he's like, no way, post it.

And then someone corrects me about "viewports."
