XMLHTTP and Firefox

P: n/a
Which of these should Firefox 1.5 support?

MSXML2.XMLHTTP.5.0
MSXML2.XMLHTTP.4.0
MSXML2.XMLHTTP.3.0
MSXML2.XMLHTTP
Microsoft.XMLHTTP
WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5
WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5.1

I've tried them all without success.

Thanks in advance.

Firefox should support none of those because those are all Active X
Objects which is used only in Internet Explorer. For FF, all you need
to do is:

var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();

Remember to do appropriate try/catch blocks where necessary.

If you really mean which *should* it support, then the answer is *none*
of them. They are all Windows / Microsoft tools and Firefox is not.

Like this?

function xmlhttp() {
var obj;
var xml = new Array();
xml[0] = "MSXML2.XMLHTTP.5.0";
xml[1] = "MSXML2.XMLHTTP.4.0";
xml[2] = "MSXML2.XMLHTTP.3.0";
xml[3] = "MSXML2.XMLHTTP";
xml[4] = "Microsoft.XMLHTTP";
xml[5] = "WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5";
xml[6] = "WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5.1";
if (window.ActiveXObject) {
for (var i=0; i<xml.length; i++) {
try {
obj = new ActiveXObject(xml[i]);
break;
} catch(e) {
obj = null;
}
}
} else if(window.XMLHttpRequest) {
try {
obj = new XMLHttpRequest();
} catch(e) {
obj = null;
}
}
return obj;
}

Bye.
Jasen

ps. XmlHttpRequest (or some such capiitalisation) may be what you're
looking for it's a host object rather than an Activex control.
