Random Image Slideshow from folder

How could I make a random image slideshow with the images being in a
folder and not listed in the head tag? (I have over 1,000 images and do
not want to list them all in my index page) ? Thanks

You're either going to need to use a server side script language (there
are lots of PHP examples out there), or to have a predictable
file-naming scheme, say:

"res/pic-1.gif"
..to..
"res/pic-1000.gif"
