You might want to clean up that web page referenced in the subject line.
The document does not validate with HTML (although it claims to do that
very thing!) and, sure enough, you have some overlapping CODE and SPAN
start and end tags in there.
For shame.

Not to be all negative, I will say that the content of the document is
probably (certainly?) informative to those who worry about what code will
work in what version and whether to write wrapper code or test for the http
client in use (or both).
It's interesting to find people who have THAT much time on their hands and
actually spend it generally productively, which includes contemplating the
eternal verities that are and which surround JavaScript in all of its
various forms. And then being willing to share/impart this information to
others in a more or less esoteric way is commendable or considerably
commendable.
