focus question (IE vs. FF)

Hey all:

Googled and searched, but couldn't find the answer.

Take the following code working with a text input:

document.formname.inputname.value = "Monkey";
document.formname.inputname.focus();

In FF the blinking cursor is inserted at the end of "Monkey".
In IE the blinking cursor is inserted at the start of "Monkey".

Any way to get IE to insert that cursor at the end?

reverse the order, this works on my IE6 and FF1.5b1

document.formname.inputname.focus();
document.formname.inputname.value = "Monkey";
