Term Definition Popups?

I'd like to roll over certain terms on my page, and pop up a
definition. I'd like an free, OSS solution (and want to avoid the
pitfalls of a hand-coded solution, if possible). I'd Google it, but
the terms I'm choosing are not specific enough.

Any tips?

You can use HTML title (attribute) for this, but it has the distinct
disadvantage of disappearing quickly, which can't be modified afaik.
Flyover help (tooltips) require JavaScript, but they give you complete
flexibility. Example:

Add to that the truncation that occurs in Firefox, and the fact that
it doesn't render in NS 4.x.

I was already resigned to the fact that I'd have to use JS for this,
so thanks for the links! I'll go check them out now...
