Courses to learn Javascript for VB/ASP programmers

Hi there,

I have a friend who is proficient in Visual Basic and writing ASP, and
he has been instructed to learn JS in short order to take advantage of
a possible career opportunity.

Can anyone recommend a formal course or resources for someone in this
position who needs some fast lernin'?

Besides Danny Goodman's excellent book, there's also David Flanagan's
JavaScript the Definitive Guide. Since your friend is a programmer, and
probably doesn't need a bunch of web cookbook how-to recipes (which is
what most JS books are), this will give him a really good understanding
on why JS was designed the way it was.

Also, since he's a VB/ASP programmer he already has a decent
IDE/Debugger all set up for him - Visual Interdev in MS Visual Studio.

Thanks! It turns out that I was mistaken, the requirement was actually
to learn JSP or Java, so I'll go post to the appropriate newsgroup.
I'll monitor this thread as well in case any of y'all have a suggestion
about that too.
