Weird behavior with window.open() and IE

I opened a JPEG image in a separate window using
window.open("mypic.jpg"). When the new window
opened, I immediately saw the QuickTime media player
load on the window. The QuickTime player then
loads my image.

Is this supposed to happen?? IE does NOT need the
QuickTime player to display images. Why is IE using
QuickTime to display an image in a window??

My guess is that it (QuickTime) is the default application set to open
jpgs on your PC. Go to Windows Explorer (not IE) hold down the shift
key and right click the file name - You should see an option for Open
With...

Select "Choose Program" and then select Internet Explorer - There is
likely to be a tickbox that allows you to make this a permanet setting.

Then re-try your javascript page and it should open in IE.

It sounds like you've just installed Quicktime which sets its default
MIME type to open various file types - including jpg unless you specify
otherwise during custom installation.

Give the above a try and it should fix the problem,
