Trappiing Unicode

Hi,

I've a web data HTML page being passed a database string - which I guess
is Unicode - by a server side JS function that in the database source
is:
"© John Doe"
....but on the web page renders as...
"© John Doe"

Is there any way I can wrap this string in a JS function to get the
correct Copyright symbol. I've no control over the source text or the
source function but can write server-side or client side JS (if I know
what code to use <g>.

TIA

Mark

Sorted - by changing the page charset to "utf-8"
