Pity - it would be brilliant to see some of the proposed
features (Classes!!) actually implemented.
The best part of 4 years after the publication of the final version of
ECMA 262 3rd edition we are just getting to the point where the last of
the 2nd edition browsers are dropping out of use and it might be
reasonable to start using features introduced in the 3rd edition on
public web sites. If a new version was published tomorrow it would
probably be another 4 years before it was safe to use it on the
Internet.
Personally I don't see the point in most of the proposed changes for
version 4. There are already plenty of class-based languages (and plenty
of people familiar with their use) for all of the application writing
that is needed. And any pattern form a class-based language can already
be implemented in javascript for the effort of writing the code.
