document.write problems...

Sam
Hi all,

Could someone take a look at
www.worklesshard.com/watermelon/ecard.html and tell me why it works in
Firefox, but not in IE? I've been scratching my head for hours.

Many, many thanks in advance.

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...d_content.html

Would be a good start.

But run this script from the taskbar, and you can see the code that is
generated for IE:

javascript:'<code><ol><li>'+(document.documentElem ent||document.body).outerHTML.replace(/&/g,"&amp;").replace(/</g,"&lt;").replace(/%20%20/g,"&nbsp;%20").replace(/\n/g,"<li>")+'<\/ol><\/code>';

After getting the source code that IE is getting, paste it into a
document, strip the scripts, and debug the HTML itself.

Well, no, actually.

I get redirected to http://www.worklesshard.com/watermelon/alternate.html
and asked "Why not download and install the latest version [of flash] now?
It will only take a moment.".

My answer:
(a) It would take closer to 10 minutes then 'a moment' and in 7 minutes my
connection becomes metered.
and
(b) I already have the latest version of Flash available for my system
(7.0.25)

You have a problem with how you are displaying the error message. You
have created an endless loop out of the back key. When you go to the
page without flash or it seems on MacOS X:
1) You get the page:
http://www.worklesshard.com/watermel...alternate.html

2) You click on the arrow icon.
3) This takes you back to your page:
www.worklesshard.com/watermelon/ecard.html
4) Which takes you to the page:
http://www.worklesshard.com/watermel...alternate.html

This is annoying. What you need to do is place the warning in the
original page ( www.worklesshard.com/watermelon/ecard.html )

I assume the Macromedia®FlashTM folks will have a more detailed
description.

I tried this with Firefox, safari, and Netscape on MacOS 10.2.6.

I turned off Javascript in Netscape and still got the page
ecard_alternate.html and I have some version of flash installed.
