Seeking banner rotation script that does so according to country

I can't find any javascript that displays a banner according to a
user's country. Is this not possible?

If not javascript then maybe php or ssi displayed into a page via an
iframe. Does anyone know of a free script that shows a banner
according to country?

Jason,
Javascript can detect the user's local machine time, but several countries
could be in the same time zone.

You asked about options using php, and I found this FREE script for you:
http://www.phptutorial.info/iptocountry/the_script.html

This will detect the user's country; then, you can grab a generic javascript
banner script to display a certain banner based upon the variable returned by
the above php script.

Hope this helps,

Jim

No, there is no reliable way to determine the country where the visitor
is located. You could make a guess using an extensive list of ISPs,
their IP address ranges and supposed areas, but with the exception of
the Gecko DOM I don't know of any UA where reading the IP address is
possible with client-side scripting. Whether this is possible with
server-side J(ava)Scripting would depend on the server API; which Web
server are you developing for?

PHP and SSI is beyond the scope of this newsgroup; if you have no
server-side J(ava)Script available (JScript with ASP, e.g.), I
suggest you post to an appropriate newsgroup or find a Web forum.
