once the page is loaded into cache (i.e. after first visit) it is loaded faster. using AJAX gives you no sensible advantage.

other than that you can of course use a different browser.

I have written the following Win app in VB.NET 2003 . The class is simply picture boxes that behave in a random order after they have been instantiated and added to a form. When I create 15 or more instances of my class, the whole program runs slowly in a way that I have to close the program. I have tried to create a new thread for each class, but that throws an exception , because a separated thread can't be added to a form from a child...

I can't make this script work properly. I've gone as far as I can with it and the rest is out of my ability. I can do some html editing but I'm lost in the Java world. The script at the bottom of the html page controls the form fields that are required. It doesn't function like it's supposed to and I can leave all the fields blank and it still submits the form. Also I can't get it to transfer the file in the upload section. The file name...

With respect to the questions below, please assume that our database(s) and all text files are shared on a network file server. When opening a shared MDB, what is the effect of its accessing data via a link vice a native table? How does poor network performance change this answer? I've heard that splitting a database can lead to reduced performance. This would lead me to believe that accessing files with linked data is slower than...

I have a list of links, with a thumbnail image hidden(resized) next to the link. Complete html&css at end of this post. CSS for the link resizes the image on a:hover. All is good, except the list resizes to accomodate the image, thus "tearing up" the list. In some browsers the thumbnail and resize effect goes back and forth real fast (try mouseovering the "another page" link). I tried constraining the list item height, but that doesnt...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
