Bluring the entire page/window

I am having a button in a page. On clicking on that button I am poping up another a modalwindow using Javascript(No AJAX controls used). Now I want the parent window to be in blured state once the popup is launched..
Please suggest me in doing this...

You can use showModalDialog where supported (e.g. IE, Firefox 3+, Safari). If you want support cross-browser, use a DHTML div instead of a window pop-up. See this thread.
