Passing variables from iFrame to actionscipt

3 New Member
I want to send a variable from an iframe within a parent page to a swf on the parent page. The following code works:
window.document .myflash.SetVar iable('variable ','value')
(my flash is the name and id of my flash object)
But if i put(into my frame)
parent.document .myflash.SetVar iable('variable ','value')
or
parent.myflash. SetVariable('va riable','value' )
or
top.document.my flash.SetVariab le('variable',' value')
or
top.myflash.Set Variable('varia ble','value')
The variable does not get passed.

Any support will be appreciated

Iframes are automatically considered external content. You don't have full access to it.

iv also tried to pass a variable from the frame to the parent and then put an if then statement to control the flahs from the parent but for some reason the variable does not get passed.

Does the variable ever get passed to the parent?

no, it does not. I think its because the page in the iFrame is changing dynamically. See I have a couple of pages that go into the iFrame. The page that is in the iFrame is controled by the flash object in the parent document. I want each page that loads to send a variable to the flash document, dynamically because the parent page stays constant.

Hi, I have a page with a series of child pages loaded into an iframe. When I move from page to page, I store an object containing the child's control data in a variable on the main page, then use that data to populate the controls when the child page is opened again. One of these objects contains an Array, and the page reloads fine using myArray, myArray, etc... But when I try perform some array methods on it (i.e.slice) ... it does...

In document "A.html" I have defined a function and within the document body have included an IFRAME element who's source is document "B.html". In document "B.html" I am trying to call the function defined in "A.html", but every attempt results in an "is not a function" error. I have tried to invoke the function using parent.document.funcname(), top.document.funcname(), and various other identifying methods, but all result in the above...

Hi all, I had an .aspx page which would be opened modally from a previous page and just prior to the parent opening the aspx page, a javascript would run and pass parameters like mypage.aspx?parm1=a&parm2=b. I would then access the parameters in my code-behind as simple request variables and everything worked fine. I now have to open an .htm file first and inside this htm file is an iframe containing the previous-mentioned page. I...

Yes In know this has been covered in other ways, but after searching the forum I did not find a specific solution that fit my application. Maybe I overlooked something, so I'm sory if I did. Here's what I have got. It's very simple (or at least should be). I have a page on my site that has a URL of: http://mysite.come/page.php?gid=1 And in that page I have an iframe that calls for the gid variable like this: <iframe...

I have a htm page where I need to pass some data to an aspx page as a means of sending data to the database. I don't need to see the aspx page so I was going to put it in a hidden iframe. This works real good. Since I don't need the aspx page to do any postback, is there a way to pass a parameter to it with out it finishing the round trip back to the htm page? Thanks. -- moondaddy@newsgroup.nospam

I'm having trouble figuring out the proper way to pass this variable in with javascript alone. I'm not used to not being able to use jsp and all the love that is in that. Obviously I know little about javascript! So you get the whole story, the user will begin on a page which has an iframe in it that picks up a parameter http://wildlifedisease.nbii.gov/ecoregions/theirpage.html

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
