Permission Denied to documentElement

2 New Member
Running on Windows XP with Mozilla 2.0.0.4, I am experiencing a strange security issue.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
1.
2. function loadXMLDoc(url,funcname)
3. {
4.      try {
5.     netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalBrowserRead");
6.    } catch (e) {
7.     alert("Permission UniversalBrowserRead denied.");
8.    }
9.       var req;
10.     // branch for native XMLHttpRequest object
11.     if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
12.         req = new XMLHttpRequest();
13.     // branch for IE/Windows ActiveX version
14.     } else if (window.ActiveXObject) {
15.         req = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
16.     }
17.    req.onreadystatechange = function (){
18.         if (req.readyState==4)
19.         {
20.             if (req.status==200)
21.             {
22.                    funcname(req);
23.             }
24.           }
25.
26. // SNIP
27.
28. //then in appendRSSCode (which was the function referenced in funcname)
29.          var node = req.responseXML.documentElement;
30.
Generates the error
Error: [Exception... "'Permissio n denied to get property XMLDocument.doc umentElement' when calling method: [nsIOnReadyState ChangeHandler:: handleEvent]" nsresult: "0x8057001e (NS_ERROR_XPC_J S_THREW_STRING) " location: "<unknown>" data: no]
both locally and remotely. I don't get it. At all... I'll keep digging, but has anyone else seen this?

Sorry, I probably should have re-stated the problem: We're using Python 2.3.5 on AIX 5.2, and get the follow error messages from some of our code. I haven't yet tracked down exactly where it's coming from: sem_trywait: Permission denied sem_wait: Permission denied sem_post: Permission denied

Hi I installed a postgres-application (which was developed on debian woody) on red hat 9 today, using the postgres 7.3 rpms from redhad. One of my the triggers uses the pg_settings table (more precisely, it updates that table to change the search_path temporarily). With the postgres 7.3 (and 7.4 too) installed on my debian development system, this worked fine. On redhat 9, however, I get an "pg_settings: permission denied" error when my...

Hi David! Really need assistance since I have been struggling with a problem long time now. I am running a web application on a Win 2003 Std (Active Directory). Everything works fine. I have installed same application on another server Win 2003 R2 Std (No Active Directory). On that server I get “Permission denied” using the following code (used to zip folder content).

I have a v1.1 web app that works on my local computer. However, running it at the host computer, the following breaks: when a viewer selects a different country, the State dropdown should repopulate with the new country's state/proviences. Running on the host, the dropdown does not repopulate and says 'Permission Denied', I take this to mean that at the host, a viewer does not have permission to put new items in the State dropdown.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
