Get the value of a variable through window.opener not work in IE (OK for FF, opera)

1 New Member

In my main window, i have a link that opens a popup: <a.....onclick= "reftype='text1 ';..."/>.
In the popup, i have a button written in Javascript.I would like to get through this button, the value of the reftype variable of the main window. So, in the JS code, i extract the value of this variable with the following code:
window.opener.r eftype
For Firefox and Opera, if i do an alert(window.op ener.reftype), i obtain text1 that is correct. With IE, i obtain undefined.
Do you have any solutions to solve this problem with IE?

Try using window.opener.d ocument.getElem entById("abcd") .value

where abcd is the name of element of the parent window

Have you defined reftype to be a global variable?

If you're still having problems, consider setting the value of a hidden element and accessing that instead.

Can anyone suggest a...

Through some investigation it appears that selecting "Every visit to the page" for the IE caching setting "Check for new version of stored pages" causes the window.opener property of child windows to be set to null after the main page has excuted a postback. Can anyone explain this or at show that I'm wrong ? Is this a bug in IE ?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
