Refer to a table row using a variable?

Hi, I hope someone can help me with what is probably quite an easy
question!

I need to store a string in a variable, and then use that variable to
refer to a table row. For example:

var row = 'row10';
[row].style.backgrou ndcolor='white' ;

My row is defined as:

<tr id='row10'>

If I use "row10.style.ba ckgroundcolor=' white' then it works, but if I
use the variable then it doesn't. I have tried it with and without
square brackets. What I am I doing wrong?

Thanks
Mark

Have you never heard about
var element = document.getEle mentById(row);
then? That is the main way in the W3C DOM to access an element by the
value of its id attribute, whether that is a tr element or just about
any other element in a HTML document.

Thank you. I had never heard of that, but it's working now.

Cheers

I have a form that has several check boxes defaulting to checked. When the form loads, I have a cursor looping through a table that stores the name of the check boxes that need to be unchecked. I have done something similiar in VB but have not found a way to do...

Hi, I'm new to C# and I'd like to be able to reference a field of an object using a variable instead of literal text. In the PHP scripting language, you can create a variable: $var = "name"; and another variable: $name = "Epson"; Then you can refer to $name, or $$var. They will equal the same thing.

LINQ works a lot like an Access DB Recordset in the way it functions, one of the things I could do in Access is refer to the Fields thru a Variable as below allowing me to Iterate over the Recordset with a test or slight change to field names. Is there a way to Replicate this Method in LINQ, I've tried setting the Variable as an Object "Dim tDayID AS Object = "tem.Day" & 1" but it did not work? IN ACCESS: Dim DaI As String DaI =...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
