The only way I know how to do it is to go to my browser security
preferences and check "enable".

No. It would be extremely foolish for a browser to allow code
sent from a server to enable cookies.

Hello, I have a pop-up window that I would like to appear in front of the browser home page when a user opens IE. Problem is, I'd like it to never appear again if the user navigates back to the home page during their time using the browser. However, if the user closes the browser, then reopens, the pop-up should appear again. (you may have guessed that this will be used for public access pc's.) I want to try as best I can to catch...

Hi All, Just wondering how you go about changing the value of a session cookie via javascript? I have a PHP page that sets a session cookie when it first loads. I'd like to be able to change the value of that session cookie in response to a button click in a form, without resubmitting the page. For some reason, the following doesn't seem to work:

After a server created cookie is processed on the client I want it removed, cleared, or expired in the javascript block but have been unable to do this. If I set a cookie value in the server code behind and don't use a domain then I can not change or remove that cookie's value on the client. If I subsequently create the cookie again in the codebehind then I actually end up with TWO cookies with the same name in the response. The cookie...

Hello all, I'm still a bit new with JavaScript, and I hope the guru here can shed some light for me. It's regarding handling cookie and the case-sensitive nature of JavaScript itself. My problem is how do I handle the "path" parameter in cookie. First, the sequence start at http://www.testServer1.com/TestApp/page1.htm, and a cookie is set at

Server sends cookie to browser and the browser send the same cookie back to the server according to Wikipedia. Do browsers send even javascript-generated cookie to servers? For example, if I browse to a page on a server and if the content of the page is the following: <html> <head><script> alert(document.cookie);

I did try to find the answer to this before posting, so this isn't a knee jerk reaction. What I am trying to accomplish is to have a script that opens a cookie, reads a value, and then use a switch/case to take action based on that value in the cookie. I want to set the cookie manually, so I don't need setcookie(). I see that in PHP it stores the cookie in memory. Is there a way to have PHP just read a cookie from the desktop machine?...

Hi - I'm trying to use javascript to determine if a user's browser has cookies enabled or not. To test: copy this code into a file with a 'html' extension, and load it into your IE browser directly, through a local web server and through a remote web server. By turning cookies on/off in your browser, running the file, then clicking the 'test1' or 'test2' buttons, the displayed text should accurately inform you if your cookies are On or...

I'm guessing this is a laughably obvious answer to many here, but it's not to me (and I don't have a server or any knowledge of PHP to be able to try it). It's not strictly a PHP question, but something that PHP guys would know the answer to. I can't think of a more appropriate forum to try. I've heard the ASP and JSP guys aren't as friendly ;-) Let's say we have a HTML page from domain example.com, and that HTML page makes a request to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
