Strange Onload problem

Hi there,

I have a php-generated page which can have a variety of layouts, depending
on a lot of things. But every layout has the same <head> and <body>
so i cannot put an onload in the <body> tag.

My problem:
I use the following code inside the body, which should be cross-browser:

if (window.attachE vent) {
window.attachEv ent('onload', goNL());
} else if (window.addEven tListener) {
window.addEvent Listener("load" , goNL(), false);
} else {
window.onload = goNL();
};

function goNL(){
document.getEle mentById('en'). style.display = "none"
document.getEle mentById('de'). style.display = "none"
document.getEle mentById('nl'). style.display = "inline"
};

When i call goNL() bij link <a href="javascrip t:goNL()">link</a> it works,
but why won't it work by itself????

Please lend me a hand!

Thanks & Greetings Knoak

You should pass/assign the function goNL and not call it as you do above
so you want

if (window.attachE vent) {
window.attachEv ent('onload', goNL);
} else if (window.addEven tListener) {
window.addEvent Listener("load" , goNL, false);
} else {
window.onload = goNL;
};

Hello, I have a very perplexing (at least to me) problem that hopefully someone can help me with. I'm making a site with a 3 column layout. In the middle column (my fluid column) I am trying to put a table of 99% width. When I do this the table actually extends to the right over my right column and off the screen. After much debugging and...

My web host inserts banner ads into my html pages. The javascript in these banner ads interferes with the onload triggered javascript functions in my pages. I'm trying to use the onload event to load a series of urls. What I find is that the onload function is only called one time no matter how large the array. Here is the onload function. var next_win = 0; var win = window.open("", "", ""); function nextWin() { if (next_win < urls.length) { win.onload = nextWin;

I wrote a tooltips script. I've noticed "small" problem occuring while using the IE browser. If a site is long enough for a scroll to appear and we move the mouse indicator on the link then the scroll "jumps" for a second and goes back to the previous position. I haven't seen it in other scripts. I have no idea what is wrong... I enclose my...

Hello, I am looking for a cross-browser way (Firefox 1+, IE 5.5+) to have my Javascript function execute from the BODY's "onload" method, but if there is already an onload method defined, I would like mine to run immediately after it. So in the code below, what JS would i need to add to my "myfile.inc" page so that I could guarantee this...

I'm fighting a really strange bug that involves both a DataGrid and a Repeater disappearing on postback. The strange thing is that I've distilled the problem down to a simple program, that originally could reproduce the problem, but now can't, even as I add complexity back in. The basic scenario is a custom DataGrid (just make a class that...

Hi, I'm pulling my hair out trying to work this out. Pehaps I am missunderstanding something - hopefully someone can shed some light on this: 1) I have a class library that contains a bunch of custom web controls. Two of these controls are derived from the TextBox control, and overide the onLoad method in order to add some client side...

Hey all, I'm having a strange PHP (4.3.10) problem that seems to have something to do with javascript. This is a bit complex, so hold on to your hats. My issue is that a single function is wrongly being called twice. The weird part is that no "print" functions are being repeated, but any "lower" functions, such as fwrite or...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
