Learn C++ after Java

Hello, I have fairly advanced knowledge of Java and studied it as part of my undergrad program. It is a pitty that in my EE program, we were never taught C/C++.

Although i did study processor architecture,memory devices and to do practical lab work, did some good hands on assemply and verilog (VHDL) . So i do have understanding about memory and also theoretical knowledge of the use of pointers in C.

Now although im already in my final graduate thesis, but i desperately need to learn C++ to get into embedded programming side because that really is my area.

Considering one knows advanced Java and have memory/pointer concepts, can you please recommend a book that could help me learn fast track.

I understand to master the language takes years, but i just want some book which i can follow up to grasp the syntax and basic usecase of the langauge in (say) a month time, later i can continue working on it.

I would appreciate your suggestions in this regard.

C++ forum would be best place to ask the question but they have a page with lots of useful C/C++ links: http://bytes.com/topic/c/insights/90...als-docs-links
