drawOval in the JFrame

2
Hi,

I tried drawOval in the JFrame as below (I want it as simple as possible). However, it was not working. Can you tell me what I am missing? Any help will be appreciated.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. import javax.swing.*;
  2. import java.awt.*;
  3. public class MyFrameClass {
  4. public static void main(String[] args) {
  5. JFrame frame = new JFrame();
  6. frame.setSize(500,300);
  7. frame.setVisible(true);
  8. Graphics g;
  9. g.drawOval(100,100,400,200); //error: The local variable g may not have been initialized.
  10. }
  11. }

You did not create a new Graphics object anywhere. You declared the variable, but never initialized it.

Try creating a new object:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Graphics g;
  2. g = new Graphics();
  3. g.drawOval(100,100,400,200);
  4.
Check this link.
