Hi People,
First of all, do we have a dedicated forum for WebSphere? As I dont find any, posting it in the one and only available forum "Java"!
We do face a strange scenario in WAS 6.0 in AIX box. The actual purpose of ND (Network Deployment) does NOT get saved here as we do NOT have any cluster. We do have all the profiles (Deployment Manager - dmgr, individual server profiles) all in the same/single box. We do have a IBM HTTP Server to route the requests to Application Server.
During upgradation, instead of uninstalling the existing version of the EAR file, we are insisted to keep it in stopped condition and we do a fresh installation of the newer version of EAR. Of course with a different name to have a separate folder when it gets extracted. So if at all some issue happens with the newer version, we just stopped the new one and start the older one - as a toggling mode.
Now the issue is, the installation of the new EAR is successful and we do get the message in the console. But when starting the application, it bombs! It says that 'META-INF/application.xml' is not found with the LoadDeploymentDescriptor. When I searched in the file structure, the appropriate folder structure in the installedApps is missing! . The the same was working fine till now. All of a sudden it throws an error!
I have been trying out with several work arounds for a couple of days, but i am unable to get through. As it is in our Production Environment, I really can't play around much with it.
Have any of you faced this scenario ? Any suggestions? Kindly let me know if you need any further inputs.
Thanks in advance!
