help for awt event handling consume funda

Hi there

I have doubt about MouseEvent consume(). And, what it is used for?
As, I tried an example and I could not figure out what it was doing

Please give your suggestions on this

Low level events can be consumed by any listener that receives the event. When
an even has been consumed all event processing on that event stops. It can be
handy if your event handler has done everything and there's no need to fire the
event to other listeners again.
