com port to mysql db

178 100+
Hi All,

Its a few years from I done any java programming and want some advice. I need to write an application that will read data from a com port and put in a mysql db in realtime. Am I right in thinking that java is the best approach?

A bit more detail...
I have a data acquisition device that reads in a 4-20mA signal to a com port and I need to get the data into a database with a reading every 1 second

Install the RXTX package; it can handle com ports and it has the same API
as Sun's original (but discontinued) java comm package. It can handle high
baud rates so one reading per second isn't a problem.

kind regards,

Jos
