how to start the Connection pooling?

hi!
i am doing in banking domain.now they assigned new task about connection pooling..but i have a 0 knowledge in that.so
from where i should start?
what are the things have to study? give me solution....
give me some suggestion as soon as possible i have very short time to do that...
