But to me it might not be so sweet. My choice may also depend on which mood I'm in that day too. If I had to buy one from a shop, I may not be able to buy my favourite if it's too expensive as well ...
The same holds for your first question.

The point that they are making here is, there is nothing called 'best', different language have the capability to handle different situations, it basically depends upon what the application needs, every language/technology has their own limitations, so your question about which is best is really vague here.

...have specific uses. So to make a very dynamic application you might use a combination of them. It really depends on what application(s) you have in mind. Post an idea what you want to do, and we can recommend one (or more) to learn.

It also depends on what db and language your host is using/support as well.
you could add Oracle to that list too which is a beast in itself.

Oracle wouldn't fit nicely in there since it's considered a database and those are programming languages.

Well, the Oracle corp has a whole vertical stack of technologies... I thought there web app presentation layer was based on Java's JSF, though. But then you spin off into all sorts of crazy talk like BPEL...

I hear yah. A couple years ago I has the misfortune to work on an Oracle/BPEL project when that technology was (barely) beta. Oracle sent a revolving door of consultants who would arrive and check their watches with an "I should be done in time for cocktails" flourish. Several weeks later, each would be carted away on a stretcher. I survived by maintaining complete ignorance of BPEL and just coding Java subroutines. I convinced one consultant that the French equivalent to BPEL was pronounced "Poubelle" (garbage can/dustbin).
