Good luck. I see by some of your earlier posts, you know JavaScript. My advice would be to push that out of your mind when learning Java.I'm prejudiced, but the JavaScript code I see is rarely written in an object-oriented fashion or rarely written well - it's usually written in an "ends justifies the means" fashion.

It's worth the effort to code Java in an object-oriented fashion.

Welcome aboard. Java is an excellent language to pick up, because there is so much information online about it. Plus so much free (even open-source) software. Sometimes there's too much -- so many web application frameworks! I don't mean to turn this comment against Microsoft, but sometimes I think this difference is the big division between Java and .NET, what makes one loyal to one camp or the other.
