Download and install 'Tomcat'; it's a so called 'Servlet container'. A Servlet can
be activated using a web interface (a browser on the client). A Servlet accepts
the http request and sends back the data for the next page to the client.

For the actual display of the page 'jsp' pages are used. Lots of people make the
mistake to let those jsp pages do all the database processing. Don't fall for the
trap, even if you find database tags for those jsp pages.

The Servlet should delegate all the business logic to your own code (which might
make up beans but POJOs (Plain Old Java Objects) are also fine.

Tomcat can also manage database connection pools for you so there's no need
to write any code for it yourself in your beans or POJOs. Just pick a database
system that supports SQL, hook it up to Tomcat (a bit of JDBC configuration)
and you're in business.

good luck and

kind regards,

Visit Tomcat's website; there are quite a few examples that explain how to set
up a data source (read: hook up a database to your application).

kind regards,
