I learned Java a year before I learned C++, so it's certainly possible to do so. Whether you can get a job or not depends on how well you learn the language and the concepts behind OOP.

It is not necessary to know C++ if you want to study Java. It does come in handy
though if you know what classes, methods, inheritance and all of the other jargon
and hulla baloo that comes with that Object 'paradigm' is all about.

Keep this link in mind; it's a good read. Also the 'index' article in the Java Articles
section contain some valuable links. Best of luck and come back here if you
experience problems.

kind regards,

Jos
